FAQs
Q1: What method of printing do you use to print my order?
A1: There are different methods of printing that you’ve probably heard of. Screen printing or silk screen, DTF, DTG, and heat transfer, to name a few. We use a process called DTF (Direct-to-Film) on our “soft” materials and UV DTF prints on “hard” materials. Read on for further info....
Q2: What is DTF printing?
A2: DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is a method where designs are printed onto a special film and then transferred onto fabric using heat and pressure. The process is different from others processes like screen printing and DTG, in that we print the designs first, then apply them to the garment.
Q3: How does DTF printing work?
A3: Your design is printed onto a special transfer film, then a layer of curing powder is applied. The film is then cured and the design is transferred onto the fabric using heat and pressure, where the adhesive melts and bonds the ink to the fabric.
Q4: Why did you choose DTF printing as the method used by Rebel Prints?
A4: We take the quality of our products very seriously. After all, it’s our reputation on the line!
After months of research, there are many reasons we choose to print on garments using DTF, by weighing the pros and cons of each method.
DTF stands out to us because:
DTF allows for greater flexibility in designs with small details, fine lines, vibrant colors, gradients, and an unlimited number of colors, either not possible or not cost effective with other methods of printing.
DTF allows for low quantities of prints, as well as high quantities, while keeping a reasonable cost for production.
Detailed images can applied to a variety of materials, including cotton, polyester, blends, canvas, as well as “hard” materials like tumblers, mugs, wood, etc.
And DTF allows us to print on hard to reach locations and technical fabrics increase the level of difficulty to print.
We find it to be the perfect balance of quality of the finished product, quantities desired, and cost effectiveness for our customers.
Q5: Can you print on any type of fabric?
A5: Yes, DTF printing works on many materials including cotton, polyester, blends, leather, and even some non-fabric materials. This makes it great for t-shirts, hoodies, hats, bags, tablecloths, and more. We’ve even printed on pop-up tents!
Q6: How durable are the prints? Will they fade or crack?
A6: This is the question on everyone’s mind when they are introduced to a new process like DTF! DTF prints are highly durable and can withstand many washes without fading or cracking. As with any method, garments deteriorate over time. But proper care will ensure your DTF prints can last 50+ washes. The DTF process can stand up to other methods, if not better. (And all of our garments are finished with care instruction tags!)
Q7: Can I order just one custom shirt or do I need to order in bulk?
A7: DTF printing is flexible and perfect for both one-off custom designs and bulk orders, so you can order just what you need.
Q8: What kind of designs look best with DTF printing?
A8: Detailed, colorful designs, including gradients and photos, look great with DTF printing. It handles multiple colors and fine details very well.
Q9: Is DTF printing environmentally friendly?
A9: DTF printing can be more eco-friendly than some traditional methods as it uses water-based inks and creates less waste. However, the overall impact depends on the specific materials and processes used.
Q10: Can you print on dark fabrics?
A10: Yes, DTF printing works beautifully on both light and dark fabrics. The white ink ensures that your design is vibrant on darker materials.
Q11: How should I care for my DTF-printed garments? And what about washing “hard” materials, like mugs and tumblers?
A11: Keeping your garments looking their best we do our part by using high quality ink and the most effective pressing techniques and settings, and adjusting these techniques and settings based on the materials used.
You do your part by following these care instructions:
- Wash inside out in cold water
- Use mild detergent
- Avoid bleach
- Tumble dry on low or hang to dry
- Do not iron directly on the print
For harder materials, like mugs and tumblers, we recommend hand washing with a mild detergent and no abrasives, for longevity of your product.
Q12: What if I have additional questions?
A12: We’re happy to help you in any way we can. Hop over to our contact page or email us at rebelprintsusa @ gmail.com and we’ll get back to you promptly.
